In a world at war, the scent of perfume and the secrets of an ancient book mark the lives of two unforgettable women.

 Provence, 1943. Chantal Frossard jumps out of a truck and, enraptured by the hypnotic fragrance of a lavender plantation, takes an ancient book out of her shoulder bag; following its instructions she creates a mysterious essence. She heads for Grasse, the capital of perfumes, to reunite with her family. It is the first time she is meeting them. Her mother, who has now disappeared, ran away from home when she was very young.

Where did Chantal Frossard come from? Ana Fernández knows it well, having met her in 1935 in Pallars, on the border with Andorra and France. Ana, an orphan and assistant to a healer, harbours a lot of resentment towards that capricious girl who she believes has manipulated her at will and drove her away from her boyfriend.

Chantal and Ana are two women united by an innate talent for perfume and a mysterious book, said to have been written by Cleopatra, with which they prepare essences that affect the mood of those who inhale them. Two antagonistic women, at odds with each other, who hate and love each other in a multifaceted and nuanced relationship, where nothing is ever as it seems.
