A sand sculpture hides the body of a young student. On her forehead, a word is burned into her skin: EXLIBRIS.

Since then, every four years in June, the killer repeats his ritual. He kidnaps, tortures, rapes and murders a young woman, and marks her forehead with the same seal. Always the same. Always unpunished. The press dubbed them the bookseller’s crimes.

June 2024. Madrid.

Renata Blasco, deputy inspector of the National Police, has just had her umpteenth disciplinary file opened. Violent, unstable, with an alarming lack of empathy, but also brilliant and effective, she is a relentless agent. That is why she is assigned an impossible case: to prevent a murder that has not yet been committed.
